Patience Pond
Once upon a time, in a big green pond, there lived a little frog named Hoppy. Hoppy loved to jump and play all day long. The sun was warm, and the lily pads were soft. Splash, splash! Hoppy would leap from one pad to another, feeling the cool water beneath his tiny webbed feet.
Hoppy's friends were all around him. Ribbit! said his best friend, Greenie. Ribbit! replied Hoppy back with a big smile. They loved to play, but one day, Hoppy saw something special in the middle of the pond. It was a big, shiny pebble, the shiniest he had ever seen! Hoppy wanted to pick it up and show it to Greenie.
But the pebble was far away, and Hoppy was small. He tried jumping and jumping, but he couldn't reach it. Hoppy felt a little sad, but then he remembered something his wise old uncle Frogbert always said: "Patience, little Hoppy, patience and practice."
So Hoppy decided to practice every day. Jump, hop, splash! Sometimes he would miss the pebble, but Hoppy didn't give up. Each time, he listened to the gentle breeze and watched the ripples in the water. He felt the warm sun on his back and smelled the sweet water lilies. It was peaceful, and Hoppy knew that patience was important.
One sunny day, while Hoppy was practicing, he heard a croaky voice. It was Grumpy Toad, the frog who lived at the edge of the pond. Grumpy Toad was not really mean, just a bit gruff. "Why are you hopping so much, little Hoppy?" he asked.
"I want to reach the shiny pebble," Hoppy replied, pointing with his little finger.
Grumpy Toad nodded wisely. "Keep practicing, and you will learn," he said. "Take your time."
Hoppy listened. He practiced and practiced, jumping higher and higher. Each day, he grew stronger and more confident. The sun would shine, and the water would glisten. Hoppy learned to enjoy the practice, feeling the breeze and listening to the cheerful croaks of his friends.
Then one day, Hoppy climbed onto a big leaf to rest. He looked at the shiny pebble, not too far away, and felt a flutter of excitement. Could today be the day? Taking a deep breath, he crouched low. The leaf felt sturdy and cool under his belly.
With a mighty spring, Hoppy flew through the air. The wind rushed past his face, tickling his cheeks. He reached out his little froggy arms and... splash! Hoppy landed right next to the shiny pebble! He could hardly believe it. His heart leaped with joy.
He picked up the pebble, feeling its smooth surface. He held it up high, and it sparkled in the sunlight. Hoppy had done it! He had reached the pebble, and all his patience and practice had paid off. "Look, Greenie!" he shouted, showing the pebble to his friend.
Greenie clapped his little frog hands. "Ribbit, Hoppy! You did it!" he said with a happy grin.
Hoppy felt proud. He understood now what his uncle Frogbert meant. Patience had helped him reach his goal. Grumpy Toad smiled kindly from the edge of the pond. "Well done, Hoppy," he croaked. "You have learned well."
That night, Hoppy and his friends gathered under the twinkling stars. They sang and played, their laughter echoing across the pond. Hoppy held his shiny pebble close, feeling its warmth.
As the moon rose high in the sky, Hoppy lay down on his favorite lily pad. The water whispered softly around him, and he closed his eyes with a contented sigh. "Patience and practice," he whispered to himself, feeling sleepy and happy.
The stars winked down on the peaceful pond, and soon, Hoppy was fast asleep, dreaming of more adventures and shiny pebbles to find. And so, the little frog learned the magic of patience, as the gentle night wrapped the pond in its quiet embrace.
