The Thankful Fairies

Once upon a time, in a twinkling forest filled with sparkling fairies, lived a little fairy named Cora. Cora had shimmering wings that fluttered like the softest whispers and a smile that glowed like the sun peeking through the trees. She loved to play with her fairy friends, dancing on petals and chasing moonbeams.

Every day, the fairies would gather in the meadow, where the flowers sang sweet songs, and the breeze tickled their cheeks. In this magical place, a great big cake sat on a daisy table. The cake had layers of rainbow colors and smelled like a million sweet dreams.

But Cora had a little secret. She never said please or thank you. She zoomed around the cake, taking the biggest slices, and never shared her shiny fairy toys. The other fairies felt sad, watching Cora take so much without a kind word.

One sunny morning, as the dew sparkled like tiny stars, a wise old fairy named Flora came to visit. Flora’s wings rustled like leaves in the wind, and her eyes twinkled with kindness. She called all the fairies together and said, “Today, we will have a special adventure!”

The fairies buzzed with excitement, their wings fluttering like happy heartbeats. Cora was eager to join, hoping to have more fun and treats without having to share or say thank you.

Flora led them through the forest to a hidden glen, where a giant tree stood. Its branches were like arms stretched wide in a hug, and its leaves whispered secrets in the breeze. At the base of the tree, there was a shiny door, glowing with magic.

“Inside this door,” Flora said, “is a land full of wonders and wishes. But remember, only those who are kind and say please and thank you will discover the true magic.”

Cora's eyes sparkled with curiosity. She flitted to the front of the group, her wings making a gentle hum. “I will find the magic!” she chirped, not noticing Flora’s gentle smile.

The fairies entered the door, and oh, what a sight met their eyes! A land of sugar clouds and candy flowers, where every step they took made a sweet song. Cora darted toward a candy cane tree, eager to taste its bright pink leaves.

But as she reached out, the leaves floated just out of her grasp. “Please?” her friend Lily asked, holding her hand out politely. The candy leaves drifted down to Lily, who giggled with delight.

Cora frowned, not understanding why the leaves didn’t come to her. She watched as the other fairies, saying please and thank you, received all kinds of wonderful treats. The air was filled with laughter and the sound of happy fairies sharing.

Feeling puzzled, Cora flew to a marshmallow pond. She touched the wobbly surface, hoping to taste the fluffy sweetness. But the marshmallows stayed just out of reach, rippling away with a soft giggle.

“Please and thank you,” said a tiny fairy named Pip, and the marshmallows formed a soft boat for him to float upon.

Cora’s wings drooped a little. She sat on a candy pebble, listening to the gentle songs of the land. Her tummy rumbled a sad little rumble, and she wondered why everything seemed just out of reach.

The kind old fairy Flora fluttered over, her wings making a sound like gentle rain. “Cora, my dear,” she said softly, “this land is full of magic that loves kind words. A please and thank you are like keys to happiness.”

Cora listened, her eyes wide. She wanted to try. So she took a deep breath, her wings quivering with hope, and said, “Please, may I have a marshmallow?”

To her surprise, the marshmallows giggled and bounced over to her, offering their sweet softness. Cora clapped her hands with joy, her heart feeling warm and light.

“Thank you!” she laughed, her wings fluttering with excitement.

From then on, Cora used her new magic words. She found sparkling candies and bubbly drinks that tasted like sunshine. She shared her toys, and the fairies played games that filled the air with laughter.

As the day turned into a golden dusk, Flora gathered the fairies once more. “Remember, little ones,” she said, “kindness is magic, and please and thank you are the most magical words of all.”

Cora smiled, feeling the truth of Flora’s words in her heart. She had learned a wonderful secret: sharing and kind words made everything brighter.

As the fairies flew back to their meadow, the stars began to twinkle in the sky, echoing the gentle magic of the day. Cora whispered to her friends, “Please and thank you,” and the stars twinkled back like a hundred happy smiles.

And so, the forest was filled with love, laughter, and the sweet sound of fairies saying please and thank you. The end.
